I am fascinated by the animal archetype as it is found in diverse cultures, whether similar or disparate. The first intentional burials with ritual objects occurred 35,000 years ago and, with them, the first expressions of human faith appeared. Among these objects, a predominant burial image was the animal. The use of ritualized animal images has had enduring religious, mythic and aesthetic significance. For me, these images symbolize a bridge between the rational and instinctual worlds.

My endangered series of sculptures are intended to celebrate the beauty of the animals as well as drawing attention to the atrocities committed against them. Sandra the orangutan lives in a Buenos Aires zoo and was awarded 'human like' rights in a court of law in 2014 but her cement environment has not changed. Orangutans in the wild suffer from the rapid destruction of their habitat. Cheetah's, like many endangered animals are vulnerable because of poaching and loss of habitat/prey.
