I enjoy the technical challenge of making detailed pieces that represent found objects, both natural and manmade. As a strong formalist, I find beauty in symmetry, form, and color which causes me to pause, contemplate the subject, and look deeper within. The colors and textures of old and worn natural objects, such as weathered wood, leather, and metallic rust appeal to me. These objects record the impact of weather and wear from the human touch.

I am drawn to items which have a sense of longevity and are not designed to be disposable. My work examines the overconsumption and waste of resources because they demonstrate human dominance over the natural world which hav I e lead to negative global consequences. Examples are clear cutting old growth forests and rainforests and chemical contaminations to land, air, and water. These behaviors contribute to global warming and their detrimental effects are occurring today and will continue into the future.
