SUBMISSION: Serengeti Nomad by Pekka Järventau

Serengeti Nomad, photograph by Pekka Järventaus. Since I was a child I have been intrigued by lions. I simply find them to be truly mysterious and magical animals. And I am not the only one who is intrigued by these extraordinary creatures. Their majestic charisma and personality has been well portrayed. You see lions in movies, read about them in books, they are being used as logos etc. Lions are all around us. They are true symbols of royalty and power.

With my lion series, I am aiming to go beyond traditional documentary photography to convey those magical qualities that intrigues me the most. It is exclusively photographed in Masai Mara, Kenya and Serengeti, Tanzania, The kingdom of lions. Spending time with lions is a truly remarkable experience and I hope that my photography will inspire a future with healthy lions still roaming the great plains.
