Although tulips are grown across the world some varieties of tulips are endangered. The watercolor part of the flowers were painted on another paper then cut out and glued on this work.

Conservationists have warned as traditional flowers come under threat of climate change some favorable varieties of chrysanthemums are in danger of dying our in the next few years. I used both watercolor and graphite in this piece to make the flowers fade away.

The polar bears in this painting are living in the swamp because they have survived the climate crisis by migrating south or adapting to the change in their indigenous region. The white plastic chairs are made from PBCs and part of the cause of both atmospheric and aesthetic pollution.

The North American jaguar once roamed all across the U.S Southwest but was extirpated with the advent of European colonization. Now as this incredible species begins to push North from Mexico to recover their former habitat they face a new threat. A proposed wall blocking travel corridors for animals between the U.S and Mexico is just one of the many ways in which the Trump Administration has negatively affected our natural world.

The Burchells zebra is the closest relative to the extinct Quagga which roamed South Africa in the 19th century. The Thoroughbred represents the cruelties surrounding horse racing. Injuries drug abuse and slaughter are behind this romanticized facade.

I was excited to finally see some endangered Key Deer at the only location in the world where they are found the Key Deer Wildlife Refuge in Big Pine Key Florida. They are the smallest species of deer. This painting was inspired by two very curious key deer we encountered on our visit.

Pandas are considered a symbol for Friendship and Peace. They subsist almost entirely on bamboo consuming up to 84 lbs daily. Forest loss isolates them preventing access to potential mates and the bamboo they need to survive. Inspired to protect pandas also protects other surrounding animals as they are an umbrella species.

Lindamood’s compulsion to draw is about capturing the visual beauty she sees in the world around her. She is drawn to the plethora of mathematically based patterns found in nature, such a spots on a jaguar or the feathers of pelican. Streetscapes abound in lines and shapes. And, rodeo scenes abound with all manner of shapes, patterns and the drama of the test of wills between man and animal.
A well-established pastel artist, Patsy Lindamood knows how to create works of art which burst with color and vibrancy. But a few years ago, she felt compelled to return to working in graphite as means to focus on shapes and values. For her graphite works, she selects subject matter with a strong range of values from darkest dark to lightest light. This range of values affords her the opportunity to create drama and visual intensity.
