Simone is a mosaic artists residing in South Carolina. The focus of many of her mosaics explores the natural environments of New Mexico (her home state) and the East Coast and Atlantic Ocean. She has been creating an ongoing nature series called "Smalti in the Sky". This series is created much like one finding shapes within the clouds. "I find unique pieces of broken smalti which become the focal point of the mosaic; including them as they have organically broken, unchanged, letting them decide what they want to become." Smalti is a handmade glass used primarily for mosaics.
