Sumatran Tiger Pillow by Sarah Smith. All Rights Reserved.

My work draws attention to the current environmental threats that endangered species are facing.  I represent these species the way I see them; as works of art themselves. My pieces are formed around their "portraits" and are composed to encourage the viewer to reconsider their relationship to the animal and its current situation.

These pieces highlight endangered species in Sumatra and the Congo and are depicted on items that represent comfortable human habitat.  These beautiful animals are losing their habitats as man continues to tear them down or intrude in an effort to "better" our own habitats; by way of logging, deforestation, mining, poaching, urban sprawl, etc.
